USAFA T-Shirt
From USAFA Folklore
The USAFA T-Shirt (USAFA T) is a multi-purpose T-shirt that says "USAFA" and the cadet's name on the left breast. It is white with dark blue collar and cuffs. "USAFA" is screened onto the left breast in dark blue block letters. The last name is screened above "USAFA" in smaller font, all uppercase.
Normally part of the physical training uniform, the USAFA T-Shirt has also been used during Basic Cadet Training in other uniforms. During First BCT, it has been worn by basic cadets with BDU pants, class colored baseball caps and tennis shoes or boots. Because Basics did not have their names on their USAFA T's until later in the year, they would wear either a nametag (for day-to-day wear) or write their name on the USAFA T in marker (for PT wear). During Second BCT, the USAFA T has been worn by cadre with BDU pants, combat boots and blue berets. Bedraggled and dirty basic cadets would live in awe of the upper class cadets whose USAFA T-Shirts seemed to always remain sparkling white as they effortlessly ran BCT.
[edit] Alumni Use
The USAFA T is one of the few cadet uniform items worn commonly after graduation. Grads wear their original shirts (showing their name) with pride until the shirts wear out. Many grads purchase replica USAFA T shirts, either without a name (just "USAFA") or with "Class of XXXX" in place of the name.
