USAFA

USAFA, pronounced "yoo-SAH-fah", is the standard abbreviation for United States Air Force Academy. An easy way to tell if someone has not been affiliated with the Academy is if they refer to the institution as "The USAFA," or if they say the letters instead of pronouncing the word.

One common play on the name is the saying: USAFA, I SAFA, we all SAFA.

When asked where they go/went to college, some cadets and grads jokingly say they went to the University of Science And Fine Arts, located just outside Colorado Springs.
