Talk:Sweepstakes
From USAFA Folklore
[edit] Same thing, different time?
I read something in the last year or two about a "Sweepstakes" taking place during BCT. Is this the same thing, moved to BCT, or is it a different thing entirely? - Tarfu92 09:52, 10 August 2006 (PDT)
- I don't know what it was called, but we did something similar to cap off our Second Beast in 1976. We did a short version of all the courses and had to run with our rifle all around Jack's Valley. We also had something similar during Hell Week, but it was within the squadron and done by our own upperclass. --80lady 10:44, 10 August 2006 (PDT)
Interesting. I modified the article a tad to reflect that. The thing I read, from either this or last year's Beast, sounded like it was done in conjunction with Big Bad Basic and had things like "who can do the most sit-ups" for outstanding squadron points. - Tarfu92 11:11, 10 August 2006 (PDT)
I heard it called "Crossroads" once, too.
I recall Big Bad Basic being done earlier when we all did the O-Course. The Sweepstakes or whatever it was called at the end of Second Beast might have involved competition amongst the squadrons, not sure. --80lady 07:37, 11 August 2006 (PDT)
