[edit] Hey Hector...

For '59-61, did each of the classes shuffle squadrons every year, since the wing expanded every year (at least through '61)? - Tarfu92 06:30, 1 December 2007 (CST)

As I recall, a certain number of cadets from each class were transferred to the newly created squadrons. In 1957 we had 8 squadrons and by 1961 we had 20 squadrons. I went from 2nd Squadron to 3rd Squadron and finally graduated with 8th Squadron. Does that answer your question? (Hector Negroni, Class of 1961)

I think so. I took your info here, and combined it with the wing expansion dates to get what's in the chart now. Does that look right? Did any of the early classes shuffle after BCT? For that matter, how was BCT organized back then? - Tarfu92 09:02, 3 December 2007 (CST)

The shuffling in the early years due to Cadet Wing expansion took place after BCT was completed and just before we joined are regular academic year squadrons. From 1957 to 1961, BCT was organized in two time periods: BCT-1 and BCT-2. BCT cadre was also organized in two time periods. Basic cadets were organized in Squadrons like they are today. Let me just add that shuffling was a great way to get to know your classmates and members of other classes. (Hector Negroni, Class of 1961)

So an entire BCT flight didn't correspond to a single academic year squadron like they do now? - Tarfu92 11:21, 4 December 2007 (CST)

That is correct. There was no correlation between BCT organizational assignment and regular academic year squadron assignment. Also, I recall that we changed room mates practically every semester. (Hector Negroni,Class of 1961)
