[edit] Ops today?

Can someone post about the way Ops is set up now? It was my understanding that cadets get an Ops trip every summer--how do they differ from year to year? (I thought I remember reading that they were supposed to progress through learning airman/NCO/jr. officer points of view.) How are bases picked? Are the trips more orientation-oriented, or do they put you to work? Someone give us the scoop. - Tarfu92 10:56, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Work vs. Orientation

Does anyone know when Ops was "orientation" and when it was "work" and how much has it changed over the years? As a dink, my Ops was pretty much entirely orientation--tours of the various squadrons, incentive flights, and some time to spend tooling around the country (I was lucky enough to be in Germany)...but as a 1Lt I had some Ops cadets (I think they were '96) actually assigned to our squadron for the entire summer period--they were supposed to do work and we (the squadron POCs) wrote them mini-OPRs that were sent back to the Zoo. I think the reports got worked into their MPAs. As it happened, since most of the squadron POCs were recent grads, we went ahead and set up orientation tours for the cadets anyway, but I'm curious to know how often this pendulum has swung. - Tarfu92 15:25, 4 December 2007 (CST)
