[edit] Changes in the Wording of the Honor Code

Over on Wikipedia, the issue came up about a change in the wording of the original Honor Code. The original ending was apparently:

"...nor tolerate among us those who do."

and in the 1960-61 time frame, it was changed to the current form:

"...nor tolerate among us anyone who does."

I personally don't remember this from any honor lessons, but my memory is going to hell, so I may have heard it and just forgot it. But. . .my question to all you brown-shoes out there is this: Why was it changed? What were the circumstances? - Tarfu92 12:55, 25 January 2007 (PST)

The 1957-58 Contrails states the Honor Code as follows:
"We will not lie, steal, or cheat; nor will we allow among us those who do." - 71.178.114.230, 25 March 2007

[edit] Change 2?

OK...I just noticed this in the Admissions Counselor's Briefing: http://www.usafatoday.com/scans/admissionsbriefing/32.jpg

When was this briefing from? This is different than the current "...anyone who does" and reverses "cheat" and "steal". Is this a typo? Or was there a change? Any old grads can tell us what's the history here? - Tarfu92 09:09, 22 March 2007 (PST)

[edit] Honor Code Through Time

Maybe we should have a chart that shows the Honor Code as it changed:

Contrails 56-57, Page 26, "We will not lie, cheat, steal, nor tolerate among us those who do."

Contrails 57-58, Page21, "We will not lie, steal, or cheat; nor will we allow among us those who do."

Contrails 58-59, Page 28, "We will not lie, steal, or cheat, or tolerate among us those who do."

Contrails 59-60, Page36, "We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does."

etc. --Stripe 06:55, 28 March 2007 (PST)
