Squaring corners

From USAFA Folklore

Jump to: navigation, search

In any area where they are at attention, basic cadets/fourth class cadets are expected to square their corners. The primary areas where this occurs are the hallways in Vandenberg Hall and Sijan Hall, and on the Terrazzo. To square a corner, the fourth class cadet makes a flanking movement while running or walking, resulting in a sharp 90ยบ turn. The fourthclassman then walks or runs in the new direction. In areas where fourth class cadets are at ease or at rest, they are not expected to square corners.
