Real Air Force

The Real Air Force (sometimes abbreviated RAF, not to be confused with the actual RAF) is a mythical institution where the bureaucracy, stupidity, and inanity so common at the Zoo, do not exist. Common sense prevails, training is meaningful, and everyone is motivated to do their duty because their job is exciting and they know they are making a difference. It is cadet slang for the operational Air Force. Most cadets cannot wait to graduate, and often speak of "When I get out in the Real Air Force..."

Sadly, it comes as quite a shock to many graduates when they realize there is no such thing as the Real Air Force.
