Cadet uniforms include a variety of hats:

Contents

[edit] Normally Worn with Blue Uniforms

[edit] Wheel Cap

The wheel cap is the more formal hat that comes in two colors: blue for wear with blues and service dress (also called the "service cap"); and white for wear with parade dress (also called the "parade cap")

[edit] Banana boat

The banana boat functioned as the equivalent of the wheel hat for women at various times

[edit] Flight cap

The flight cap is used for day-to-day wear with blues. Upperclassmen wear the Prop and Wings insignia on the flight cap after Recognition.

[edit] Normally Worn with Fatigues or BDUs

[edit] Berets

Several types of berets have been worn:

  • An older version was like the girl scout hat but blue, and functioned as the original wheel hat for women before banana boats.
  • Blue berets were worn by BCT cadre, SERE cadre and Firsties during the academic year in recent years.
  • Black berets have been worn by Sabre Drill cadre, Honor Guard cadre and Assault Course cadre.
  • Red berets have been worn by Obstacle Course cadre.
  • Green berets purchased in Paris during their European field trip were worn by Gold Tags from '63 on the BCT and SERE cadre.

[edit] "Aussie style" camouflage cowboy hat

This hat has been worn by Survival and Evasion Instructors in SERE cadre

[edit] Fatigue or BDU hat

This is the standard headgear for fatigues or BDUs. In years where firsties wore blue berets, and 4ºs wear baseball caps, the standard fatigue or BDU cap was only worn by 2ºs and 3ºs.

[edit] Baseball caps

Normally worn by fourth class cadets. They were all black until 19__(?) when class colored baseball caps were issued.

[edit] Multi-use

[edit] Watch caps

Watch caps are worn in cold weather. They can be worn either with blues and parkas (with hoods up) or with BDUs and Gore-Tex jackets (with hoods up)
