On Halloween night 1979, the Emperor Ahm Gwanna Kik Bootay addressed the Wing from the Staff Tower. Bootay was graciously played by Tommie Lester (Class of 1980). Despite his fearsome size, Tommy was a soft-spoken guy and it took a lot of coaxing by his roomate to get him to portray the emperor. He was dressed up in every bit of stupid regalia possible, and even wore a cluster of medals with cardboard and crayon. The big round thing on his right breast pocket is an old AT&T rate wheel that you used to estimate long distance charges from pay phones.

The Emperor was carried into Chez Mitch on a sedan chair by his all-Australian honor guard. The crowd mobbed him and insisted that he take the staff tower. There, Emperor Bootay shouted gibberish into the microphone (OOGA-BOOGA-BUNGA) and the late Gurnie Gunter translated it, "Boss say: Everybody have woman tonight. Boss Say: Beat Army. He loves to beat."
