Doolie Dining Out

Doolie Dining Out (more recently called "Doolie Day Out") is traditionally the first time basic cadets are allowed off of the Academy grounds. The event takes place during Basic Cadet Training--traditionally, between First and Second BCT, but more recently at the end of BCT.[1]

During Doolie Dining Out, basic cadets are invited to the home of a local area sponsor family for part of the day. The basics typically eat everything in sight, make long telephone calls home, watch TV, flirt with any available members of the opposite sex, and sleep. The host families are almost always impressed with the extreme politeness of basic cadets, who have already ceased acting like normal human beings.
