Demerits were a form of punishment that could be issued to any cadet by upperclass cadets or officers for violation of Air Force Cadet Wing Regulations. Common infractions for which cadets received demerits include:

  • Bad hair (limits on length and style vary over time)
  • Room not properly prepared for inspection
  • Being late or missing a formation such as class or the Noon Meal Formation

Demerits were documented with the Form 10. The Form 10 was processed by the squadron Operations Sergeant after consultation with the squadron Operations Officer and the Air Officer Commanding.

If a cadet accumulated sufficient demerits, the cadet would be required to march tours or could be put on probation.
