Common GR period

At times during the Academy's history, there was a common GR period that took place during breakfast time. Cadets would have the option of attending an early breakfast, then take their graded reviews during the time when the rest of the wing was at Morning Meal Formation and/or breakfast.

Any classes that had multiple sections (and even a few that only had one section) were expected to administer their graded reviews during this period for all cadets in any section of the class. This schedule was instituted in wake of the 1984 Physics honor scandals to prevent the sharing of information, either purposefully or inadvertantly, from earlier classes to later classes.

Cadets were of two minds: the common GR period was certainly at least slightly offensive to their sense of honor, because it necessarily implied that there would be sharing of test information. On the other hand, getting to miss Morning Meal Formation and/or breakfast and getting an additional free period of compensatory time during the school day was often a convenient arrangement.

The common GR period existed from ___ (at least Fall 86) to Spring 2006.

(as a SMACK in the fall of 1984 we had the common GR period)
