[edit] Graduation

With President Reagan as the graduation speaker, everyone entering the stadium had to go through metal detectors, etc. The resulting backup caused many friends and family to miss graduation. The backlog of people outside the stadium made it impossible to clear the safety zone necessary for the Thunderbirds airshow. The Thunderbirds did their traditional pass at the end of the ceremony, then circled the area until they didn't have enough fuel left for the airshow and headed back to Peterson AFB.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Class of 1984 class ring has beer can pull tabs on it: Our class ring designer managed to slip a note to the Ring Company's rep after the design was OK'd by the Supt and Comm. The "new final design" also included the words "Hard Core" which had to be removed - this served as a red herring, drawing attention away from the pull-tabs.
