Chicken incident

In 1990 during the Army-Air Force game, following the falconry performance, several West Point cadets brought a box out on the field and took from it a chicken that had been painted blue. They tried to get it to fly and, of course, it didn't.

It was a fun and creative spirit mission, until one of the Air Force cheerleaders commandeered the chicken, and after trying to hype up the crowd, proceeded to wring the neck of the chicken in front of everyone--including all of the generals present for the Corona Conference. The chicken reportedly survived, but the individual involved got a major hit, which reportedly included many hours of community service at the humane society.
