The class of 1994 disappeared the night before the day of recognition and aggregated around flatiron to the complete surprise of the authorities. Wing staff force marched more than 1000 cadets back upon discovering all cadets had disappeared. Unconfirmed reports of fisticuffs ensued. The commandant, General Redden, was absent. In his absence, Colonel Porter and the wing staff elected to cancel recognition.

Several members of an unnamed 4th group squadron pried the word STEAL off the honor wall by Harmon Hall.
