Amnesty

Amnesty is forgiveness for punishments, and is normally granted by some one senior in the chain command (usually above the Supt). Amnesty usually only applies to minor punishment, leaving the most serious offenders to finish off their tours.

Often, during Army Week or Navy Week, senior leaders such as the Chief of Staff or the Secretary of the Air Force would be on the Academy grounds, and would usually be asked for amnesty. Some Graduation speakers have also occasionally granted amnesty.
