Airborne (stupid cadet trick)

Near Arnold Hall (and in some other areas of the Terrazzo) there are light poles that start at the ground level and reach the 5th story level. They are about 4 feet from the Terrazzo wall, and anchored at about Terrazzo level. The trick is to jump from the Terrazzo wall to the light pole and slide down the four stories. Do it five times to earn your "Airborne" wings.

The act itself was a common occurrence and five is a small number for those who used this means of descent for both business and pleasure.

There are numerous stories of failures in this category--fortunately, none fatal.

These light poles have become known as Hap's Elevator due to their proximity to the return path from Hap's to the dorms, and the tendency to perform reckless acts, such as sliding down these poles, after consumption of alcohol.
